Shipyard Sponsors World Premiere Festival of Cultural Exchange

PORTLAND, MAINE (July 23, 2004) The Shipyard Brewing Company is the official beer garden sponsor of Portlandıs world premiere Festival of Cultural Exchange. This major summer event will be held August 7-8 in downtown Portland.

"Shipyard has a strong spirit of giving back to the community and we're excited about our new relationship with the Center for Cultural Exchange," noted Bruce Forsley, director of sales and marketing for the brewery. "We share the same desire to promote the city of Portlandıs growing reputation as a center for the arts."

Festival organizers at the Center for Cultural Exchange expect to draw over 7,000 people from around the northeast to this unprecedented presentation of musical performances from around the world.

Portland's main thoroughfare, Congress Street, will be closed to traffic from Longfellow Square to Congress Square for this weekend-long celebration.

"Shipyard Export Ale, Summer Ale, and our new Shipyard Light Beer will all be available at the beer gardens," continued Forsley. "We're proud to be brewed right here in Portland and a festival that attracts people to the heart of the city is the perfect fit for us."

The Shipyard Brewing Company was established in 1994 and is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Shipyard produces 12 varieties of award-winning English style and seasonal ales.
