Top California Beer Awards for Sea Dog and Shipyard Brewing Companies

PORTLAND, MAINE (September 5, 2005) - Sea Dog and Shipyard Brewing Companies have been honored top awards in the prestigious Commercial Beer Competition at the 83rd Annual Los Angeles County Fair. This internationally recognized fair is the largest in North America and is attended by more than 1 million people. The fair opens this Friday, September 9 and runs through October 2nd.

In 2004, Old Thumper won ³Best in Show² at this competition and also took home the gold award in the Extra Special Bitter category.

Sea Dog Brewing Company produces 8 year-round and seasonal ales and Shipyard Brewing Company produces 13 English style and seasonal beers. Master brewer Alan Pugsley oversees the brewing for both these companies. Sea Dog and Shipyard beer is available in over 25 states across the U.S.
