Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale Wins People's Choice Award at Attitash Bear Peak Octoberfest

PORTLAND, MAINE (October 9, 2006­ On Sunday, October 8th, Shipyard Brewing Company's Pumpkinhead Ale took home the People's Choice Award for Best Brew at the 7th Annual Attitash Bear Peak Oktoberfest in Bartlett, New Hampshire.

"This is the first time in the event's 7 year history that a brewery other than Moat Mountain Brewing Company in North Conway, New Hampshire has been voted best brew by festival attendees," noted Shipyard's New Hampshire sales representative Jim Bellisle.

In September, Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale won 3rd place at the 2006 California Brewers Festival's Fruit Beer category. In 2005, Pumpkinhead took home the gold from this same festival.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale is a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with delightful aromatics and subtle spiced flavor. It is available August through November and has 4.8% alcohol by volume.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale was first brewed in August of 2002 at Federal Jack's Restaurant and Brew Pub in Kennebunk, Maine where Shipyard began. Shipyard Brewing Company produces 13 English style and seasonal beers available in over 35 states across the U.S.
