Successful 2nd Annual Hike the River for a Cure

BETHEL, MAINE - October 29, 2007 (/strong> - This past weekend, the 2nd annual Hike the River for a Cure marked the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a hike at Shipyard Brew Haus White Cap Lodge at Sunday River in Bethel. This 3 mile hike was held on Saturday and benefited the Maine Cancer Foundationıs Womenıs Cancer Fund.

Despite the inclement weather, 125 hikers raised over $5,000. This hike doubled from 56 hikers last year and is expected to continue to grow with the 3rd annual next October.

100% of the money raised by Hike the River for a Cure stays in Maine and goes towards scientific research, professional and public education, and patient support programs.

Maine Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well being of Maine people.

Starbucks provided free coffee and pastries and Summit Spring Water provided complimentary water. This hike is sponsored by Shipyard Brewing Company.
