The Shipyard Brew Pub Goes Green in Eliot: New Banquet Center Added to the Facility
ELIOT, MAINE (December 7, 2007) - The Shipyard Brew Pub has converted its facility at the Eliot Commons complex to green technologies using solar and other energy efficient systems that meet Efficiency Maine standards.
A newly installed solar system is the backbone of an energy efficient system that includes features such as: heated sidewalks; interior, exterior, and parking lot lighting; low energy, high efficiency kitchen motors; recaptured heat from refrigeration motors; preheated water; and cooking systems that utilize steam generated by natural gas.
"Last year, we worked with Efficiency Maine to go greenı at Federal Jackıs Restaurant and Brew Pub in Kennebunk and, this year, we decided to do the same in Eliot," said company president Fred Forsley. "Efficiency Maine is a great asset for Maine business and the environment. Itıs a win-win."
Due to customer demand, the Shipyard Brew Pub has also tripled in size, added a game room and doubled its dining room capacity.
A new adjoining banquet facility will have two function spaces. The Regatta Room will host 240 seated guests and a second room, called the Optimus Room, will feature fine wines and accommodate 70 seated guests. Construction will be completed on the banquet facility early next year with an open house planned for February.
